Mike was an amazing person, always such a giver. I have been so lucky to have him as an uncle and friend. When Mike was a boy he started taking care of his family and never stopped. I heard from my mother how Mike took care of his brother, his parents, his sister, the farmworkers and the horses. Mike figured out how to run down the hill after school and beat the bus that was supposed to bring him home, in order to get in 15 more minutes of work for his father before dark. The first time he met Dorothy at the square dance he was helping her find her lost purse. Everyone in Northford knew that you could count on Mike to help at the firehouse or on the farm. My grandfather left the farm to Mike because he knew Mike would be the one to take care of it. When Dorothy became sick Mike stayed by Dorothy's side until the end. He was true blue. Dan and Mike and I figured out how to deal with many issues while sitting out a the rocks at Sunrise Cove and Mike was always ready to help. We decided together that the reason that God took Dorothy first was beacuse God knew that Mike would be the one who could take care of her. Dan and I will miss Mike. What a good man. We all know he's in Heaven. Mike instilled that sense of giving to others right into Joanne's heart. Thank you to Joanne and Jim for taking care of Mike in the end. We know you gave it everything you had. The Yankees have a fan in Heaven.
