Obituary of Marvin C. Dawkins

DAWKINS, Marvin C., 83, of Lutz, Fla., passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2011. Marvin was a life-long resident of Hillsborough County and served in the US Coast Guard and Navy during WWII. He taught history for many years then retired after 20 years as the Assistant Principal at Leto High School in Tampa. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and wine making. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jimmie. He is survived by his son, Darrell of Wesley Chapel; two daughters, Dawn Burr and her husband, Tom of Lutz and Dina Thorne and her husband, Ed of Land O’ Lakes; three grandchildren, Megan, Kevin and Jason. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at Loyless Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Myrtle Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
