Obituary of James F Powers

POWERS, James Francis, 81 passed away January 14, 2011. He was the loving husband for 51 years and preceded in death by Mary A.; beloved father of James F. II ( Laurie), David B. (Vicky), Debbie (Rich) Masters, Mary (Kevin) McConkey and George B. (Janet); proud grandfather of Rashel Browning, Kelly (Jamison) Burkett, Patrick McConkey, the late David B. Powers, Kelly McConkey, Travis Masters and Jackson Powers; loving great-grandfather of Anthony Powers, Kayla and Aiden Browning, Micah and Zoe Burkett; dear brother of the late George W. Powers and the late Bob (Elsie) Powers, Mike (Mary) Powers, Charles (Marilyn) Powers, and the late Fredrick and Mary Rita Rust. He was preceded in death by father, George W. Powers and mother, Constance. James was a United States Air Force veteran serving in the Korean Conflict. He then retired in January 1985 after 38 years with Continental Can Company (Tampa), (Atlanta), (Chicago), (Omaha). James was a Eucharistic minister and was past Grand Knight and very active with the Knights of Columbus locally, state wide and nationally. He was also active in the Ancient Order of Hibernians and Loved to play golf with his family and friends. As well as being a Marshall at the J C Penney Golf Classic. Each week volunteered his time making packages to send to our Service men with the Support our Troops Inc. of Wesley Chapel and volunteered as a election official. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Land O’ Lakes. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday, January 17th at Loyless Funeral Home.
