Obituary of Charles W. Stoots

STOOTS, Charles W., 73, of Land O’Lakes passed away Saturday, May 29, 2010. He was born in Eccles, WV to John "Buck" Stoots and Irene Westmoreland Stoots. He moved to this area in 1980. Charles was a retired Chemical Operation’s Staff Sargent in the U.S. Army. He was awarded the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 device and the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm. Charles was also awarded the 6 time Good Conduct Medal and the Bronze Star. He is survived by his loving companion, Shirley Cherok; two daughters, Sherry Shields (Ronald L.) of Lexington, KY and Captain Amy C. Stoots of Edmond, OK; two brothers, Retired Sgt. 1st Class James R. (Rachel) Eccles, WV and Joe I. Spartanburg, SC; three sisters, Susie Terry (Harold) of Lima, OH, Dorothy Perez (Arthur) of Palm Harbor, and Mary Allen of Eccles, WV; grandchild Wesley C. Claycomb of Australia; as well as many nieces and nephews and his loving dog Fluffy. Services will take place at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice.
