Our family has been privileged to know and love Chuck for about 3.5 years. We would see him most week-ends, when we stayed at the "lake". Chuck was quick to introduce himself to us and made us feel welcome as new neighbors. Always, Chuck would take the time to teach our kids a fishing trick or two. Chuck enjoyed debating, story-telling, and helping my husband, Bill, with mechanical challenges. Those two men were quite a pair when they got going with their stories and debates! Chuck's nature was to look out for everyones' well-being. He was concerned about a cypress tree, located near our dock, that started to creak and sway, so he insisted that he cut it down with his chainsaw. He was worried that one of us might get hurt by that tree. Another time, Chuck was concerend that one of us might run into a rusty pole near the lake waterline on our property. Chuck took it upon himself to plant a wooden stake next to the rusty pole and paint the stake a bright white, so that no one would run into the pole. I could write many more Chuck stories, all of which would share a common theme: Chuck had a huge, kind heart and we have been blessed to have known him. We are proud of his service to our country. We will greatly miss Chuck's fun-loving smiles, gestures, and generosity.

Chuck has been a great friend to me for the past 20 years. Over the years we have had a lot of fun, whether we were fishing, going to Jai Alai, or whatever. Chuck was a true friend to me who I could talk to about anything. I already miss his witty humor, and friendly disposition. Words can hardly express how much he will be missed!

Growing up, every year since I remember I have gone down to Florida. I remember Chuck always being with my grandma and making jokes about me. We would talk about how I am a "yankee" because I am from Florida. I would always tell him I was the one born in Florida not you... Chuck did so much for me. He has been the ONLY grandfather figure I have had. Both of mine died when I was very young. Ever since I remember he was that grandfather figure for me. When I would visit my grandma, he would always prepare the tractor for me. He once attatched a plane to it because he knew I love airplanes. This past April, I was able to visit him with my friend Donald. He cracked more jokes and was just very funny like always. He gave me crap about how my flight landed too late and he had to be up to get me. He would always give me some sort of job to do, but tried to make it fun. I remember him showing me his medals and talking about every one of them. I am very proud of him, and I hope he knew that... and now, 8-9-10 years later since the first time i met him, however it may be, I am proud to say that Chuck WAS my grandfather. I see him as that to me, and I will never forget him. I was planning on seeing him at my graduation with grandma on the 11th. I know he will be looking down from above. Chuck, grandpa... I love and miss you so very much. These few days have been very hard, and I know one day, I will see you again.
