Obituary of Robert Baron

BARON, "Coach" Robert George II, 60, of Brandon, FL passed away with dignity and grace in his home, surrounded by his loved ones, Thursday, February 25, 2010, after a long-term battle with ALS/Lou Gehrig’s disease. Born January 7, 1950 in Willimantic, CT, he moved to Tampa Bay, at the age of 18, after high school graduation. Robert taught Physical Education and coached many sports teams for 38 years, leaving an amazing legacy touching many lives spanning generations. He is survived by his beloved wife Carol B. Baron; sons, Jon-David Baron and Robert Kyle Baron; stepsons, Sgt. Daniel L. Matthews and Adam J. Hazell; stepdaughters, Bonnie L. Hazell and Candice Seward; granddaughters, Addison Baron and soon to arrive Chloe Baron; sisters, Caroline Avery and Lynn Ann Foster (Randy); brother, Thomas Baron (Karen). Coach Baron was a long-term member of the United Methodist Church and maintained a deep, abiding faith in God that he freely shared in his word, testimony, and with his hand-crafted “Jesus Crosses.” Memorial service will take place Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. at Limona Village Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family asks Donations to be made to Rodgers Middle School in honor of Coach Baron for Special Ed.
