Obituary of Lester Monroe Safriet

SAFRIET, Lester Monroe, Jr., 68, of Lutz, FL passed away Wednesday, January 13th, 2010. He was born and raised in Gate City, Virginia and graduated from Virginia Tech in 1963 was a degree in Civil Engineering. Les’s career was filled with exciting and interesting journeys. His career began in Washington, D.C. with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers where he directed construction of the John F. Kennedy gravesite. He then moved to Columbia, SC where he was employed by Carolina Eastman, Inc. He then worked as an engineer for the South Carolina National Guard. His last seven years of employment were spent as an engineer with the U. S. Army in Schweinfurt, Germany. Upon retirement in 2004, Les returned to the United States and settled in Lutz, FL. He is survived by his two sons, Van and his wife, Tara and Kent and his wife, Amy; two brothers, Lewis and Dallas; sister, Mary and his four grandsons, Brock, Coleman and Miles Safriet and Grayson Montgomery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
