Obituary of Claude Celestin

Claude Celestin, Passed away on February 4, 2024 at the age of 85 in Tampa Fl.  He was born in Haiti. He moved to New York then eventually moved to Florida.  

He is survived by his daughter Gloria, granddaughter Kayla, son-in-law Jean, his brothers G. Celestin, Adolph, Clarel and his ex-wife Edith. Other survivors are his nieces, Marjorie, Regine, Quettley, and nephew Michael and many others. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Martial, Eli and his sisters Yolande  and Geralda.  

Claude was the oldest of his siblings. He helped cared for them and loved them very much. Prior to moving to NY from Haiti, Claude got his degree in journalism. He started as a reporter and quickly became a prominent journalist for two of Haiti’s top newspapers, often writing speeches for the president of Haiti. Once he moved to NY he obtained a second degree from St. Francis College while working. He was a loving father, grandfather and was a great friend to many. He would often give advice and never judged. He had many passions and always had a smile or a joke to share or a quick word of wisdom. He loved to watch soccer, Jeopardy, playing the guitar, watching the news, reading books  and learning new things.He had a Black Belt in Shotokan Goju-Ryu  he was a riffle instructor and would often tutor others academically. He truly had a great mind and a thirst for knowledge. Although he was able to accomplish many things, he remained humbled and was always ready to share what he learned with others.

“Dad you were the best ever we miss you terribly. Although you no longer just a phone call away anymore I know you are watching over us and will continue to guide us.I can look up and just talk to you, thank you for always making me see the bright side of things and for always making us feel loved . We love you always”.
