Zachary Dunn

Obituary of Zachary Robert Dunn

Zachary “Big Dawg” Robert Dunn, 34, a resident of Tampa, FL left us much too soon on January 17th, 2024.  He was a “big” personality who people warmed to quickly. He could sincerely befriend others in a few sentences. He had stunning big blue eyes, a great smile, infectious laugh, and an amazing sense of humor. Music was his lifelong passion.  For several years, Zac was the drummer in a Tampa based band, Golden Era, and played multiple venues around town and elsewhere during that time. He was active in the Tampa music scene where he made countless friends. Zac was a sweet and caring person who would look out for his people.    Many friends have shared how “Zac would always have my back”.  He will leave a Zac sized hole in the lives of so many.

Zac was born in Brandon, Florida in 1989 and moved to Ft. Lauderdale later that year.  He and his family lived in several states before settling back in Florida in New Tampa in 1999.   He is a graduate of Wharton High School, achieved an Associate’s Degree in Music from Hillsborough County Community College and attended the University of South Florida where he had restarted studies after a Covid related pause and was one semester from achieving his Bachelor’s Degree in Business.  His surviving family include mother and father Jerry and Robbie (Willits) Dunn, brothers Mathew and Trenton (Tad) Dunn, maternal grandparents Dick and Patty Willits, and a large number of Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.  He is preceded in death by his passionately devoted dog Chica of 14 loving years, and his paternal grandparents Jack Dunn and Joan (Crosby) Dunn Conn.   A Service and Celebration of Life in honor of Zac’s life will be held at Hunter’s Green Country Club, 18101 Longwater Run Drive, Tampa, FL 33647 at 3 PM, January 30th, 2024.
