Anthony Marianetti

Obituary of Anthony Joseph Marianetti

Anthony Joseph Marianetti, known by his friends as Tony, passed away peacefully in his sleep in Tampa, Florida on October 3, 2023, with his loving family by his side. Anthony was 81 years old.

Anthony was a record breaking track star (and team captain) at La Salle Academy during his high school years, studied history at Providence College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree, and bravely served his country as an Army officer during the Vietnam War. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and hard work, serving as a retail executive for much of his career.

Anthony was an accomplished athlete, bookworm, crossword puzzle expert, pipe-smoker, fast walker (no one could keep up with him on family walks) and avid history buff (there wasn’t a history question that he couldn’t answer), won every game of Trivial Pursuit, and loved to make everyone laugh — his laugh was contagious. He was an American patriot, and proud of his Italian heritage!

While he loved many sports and watching his favorite teams play (Boston Celtics, Boston Bruins, New York Yankees), Anthony was a loyal fan of the New England Patriots, even back in the early dark days of the franchise, which made the recent years so sweet. His life was always complemented with a backdrop of music. His tastes ranged from Elvis Presley to Luciano Pavarotti, but his standard was “Ol’ Blue Eyes,” and when Anthony was around, it was likely that the sounds of Sinatra would be in the background.

Anthony will be greatly missed by his family, friends, neighbors and former colleagues.

Anthony is survived by his daughters, Susan (Marianetti) Summa and Maria (Marianetti) Everson, sons-in-law (Greg and Curtis), granddaughters (Jessica and Madeline), grandson (Nicholas), brother Robert Marianetti (wife Mary), sister Joan (Marianetti) Bianco and many more family members and friends (old and new). His youngest brother, Paul (wife Paulette), a retired Providence, Rhode Island Fire Department Battalion Chief and Vietnam veteran, passed away in 2018.

On Friday, November 17 at 10:30 a.m., a memorial service will be held at Loyless Funeral Home (5301 Land O’ Lakes Blvd, Land O' Lakes, Florida). The interment of Anthony's ashes will occur at 12:30 p.m. at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
