Obituary of Daniel David Von Spreckelsen

von Spreckelsen, Daniel David 81, of Land O’Lakes, Florida passed away on September 25,2023. He was born in Union, NJ and moved to FL in the mid 1990s. Daniel was in the Navy in the early 60’s. He was a Union police officer who retired after being shot in 1975. Then he worked hard as a taxi driver and limousine driver in Union for many years. He also lived in Forked River, NJ, Sun City, and many years at The Groves in Land O Lakes, FL before moving in with his daughter Sandy, who along with her family took care of him as he suffered with dementia. Daniel was a Diamond Master bridge player and played at many clubs. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran church in Lutz, FL. He also enjoyed puzzles and the New Port Richey gambling boat and most of all spending time with his family. He was a fun loving, loyal man of faith and will be dearly missed.

Daniel is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Henry and Louise von Spreckelsen, sister Alma, and brothers Henry and Joel. He is survived by two daughters, Sandra Ransdell and her husband, Doug, and Susan Smith and her husband, Scott “Smitty”; brothers, Paul, Kenneth and Steven; five grandchildren, Kelly (Ben), Daniel, Sean, Skylar, Stephanie; and two great grandchildren, Rex and Scarlett.

Visitation with family will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 20, 2023 at Loyless Funeral Home. A service will be held from 12:15-12:45. Interment will take place at 2:00 pm at Bushnell Cemetery.
