Obituary of Nancy Catherine Tokarz

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Nancy Griffing Tokarz, who departed from this world on 9/13/2023 at the age of 67 years old. Nancy was born on 08/09/1956 in Bridgeport, CT to Patricia and John Griffing.

Nancy Tokarz was a remarkable woman, a loving mother, and a dear friend to many. Her life was a testament to unwavering love, kindness, and resilience. She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family, and her legacy of love will forever be etched in each of our hearts. She met her husband Edward Tokarz at the Children's Home foster home in Tampa. They were married for 44 years and were great parents and examples for their children and community.

As a mother, Nancy was the embodiment of selflessness. She nurtured, guided, and supported her children through life's ups and downs, always putting their needs before her own. Her warm embrace and comforting words were a source of solace and strength for her family. Nancy loved life in many ways -- particularly she was a fan of the USF Bulls, where she was a graduate, and was also a huge fan of the Tampa Bay Rays. Maybe most of all she was fan of pandas, which were her favorite animal, and she had a collection to prove it.

Nancy was an active member of her community. She volunteered her time and resources to various charitable organizations, demonstrating her compassionate nature and desire to make the world a better place. This was shown through working in education and special education for 40 years. She extended the same love and kindness she showed to her children as to her young students. This spirit lives on and touches many of those lives today. 

She is survived by her Husband Edward Tokarz and her loving children, Ryan and Evan Tokarz, who will forever cherish the lessons of love and resilience she imparted. Nancy also leaves behind her dear siblings Patti Griffing, Thomas Griffing, Richard Griffing, and Paul Griffing as well as treasured aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and other family members and friends who will miss her dearly. 

Nancy brought light and love to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will forever shine as a beacon of love, compassion, and strength.

Though her physical presence is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved her. We find solace in knowing that she is at peace, reunited in heaven with her loving parents and family and friends.
