Obituary of John A McKinney III

John A McKinney III went home to Jesus on Sunday, August 20th.  John was 70 at the time of his passing.  John was born to John A. and Marjorie McKinney in Winter Haven, Florida, on December 29, 1952.  

 

John was preceded in death by his father John A. McKinney Jr.  John is survived by his mother, Marjorie, his brother Jimmy (Denese) McKinney, Dade City, FL. and sister, Janet McKinney of Brentwood, TN., along with several cousins, two nephews, and several close friends from the Titusville area.

 

Following his graduation from High School, John briefly attended Polk Community College before enlisting in the Navy in which he served honorably from 1972 to 1975. John was very proud of his military service.

 

John had retired from his job as a citrus inspector for the state of Florida which he held for over 30 years.

 

John was an active member of VFW post 4428 and The American Legion post 359, both located in

Titusville, Florida. He would regularly write and post the menus for the VFW meals.

 

John enjoyed attending the Rolex races each year in Daytona, loved to cook - especially barbecue, enjoyed classic rock music, watching old movies, and was a passionate amateur photographer. Living in close proximity to Cape Canaveral, he secured a press pass and took several photos of various space flights, a few of which were published in various publications.

 

John will be interred with a graveside service at The Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida oFriday, August 25 at 1 o'clock in the afternoon.

 

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Tunnel to Towers or Wounded Warriors.
