Obituary of Sharon Yarbrough

Sharon “Scotty” Yarbrough, 74, of Land O’ Lakes, Florida, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on August 1, 2023 after her long and courageous battle with cancer.

She was born May 18, 1949 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Helen Cecile and Benjamin Jackson Scott. Scotty attended Eldorado High School in 1967 and went on to study Fine Arts at Southern Arkansas University.

Scotty started her first job at South Western Bell as a Telephone Operator, kick starting a 17-year career in communications.

In 1967, Scotty met Gary in high school where they quickly became high school sweethearts and married shortly after in 1970. They went on to have two precious daughters, Shannon Leigh Wilson and Jamie Lynn Hill.

Scotty had a zest for life. She enjoyed music, dancing, skating, watching movies and shopping but most importantly, she valued spending time with those she loved, which were her family and friends. Scotty was better known as a social butterfly who never met a stranger. She was compassionate, charismatic and left a lasting impression on those she encountered.

Scotty was predeceased by her mother Cecile Scott, sister Suzi Scott and granddaughter Makailee Wilson.

She is survived by her father, Benjamin Scott, husband of 53 years, Gary Yarbrough, Daughter Shannon Wilson (Russ), Daughter Jamie Hill (Jeff) and her grandchildren Ash, Lilah, Mazie, Aiden and Austin.

The family suggest that those who wish may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
