Cliff & I will be forever grateful that our life's journey crossed paths with Bob & Kay. For over 35 years we traveled the world together , played golf together , watched each other's children marry, shared news about the grandkids , and listened to Bob repeat the same stories over & over about his days playing basketball at the University of Louisville. If you knew him you know to what I am referring. He was a loyal alumni and a very proud Kentucky Colonel .
One of my favorite times with Bob on the golf course was the day we were playing golf with the GPO group at Quail Run in Kentucky. Cliff and Kay were just ahead of Bob and I. Cliff duffed a shot and Bob leaned over and said to me " looks like the boy is leaking a little oil" ! We both laughed until we almost cried and I have repeated that story more times than I can count. That is just one example of Bob's very dry sense of humor that kept all of us in stitches often.
Years ago as we sat in the hospital with Kay the night Bob was in ICU recovering from his bladder cancer surgery Kay wanted us to go in to see him. As Bob opened his eyes we asked him if he needed us to do anything for him and he responded, " I just need help to get out of this dang sand bunker that I've been trying to hit out of all day"! Again, a response so typical of Bob.
Well now dear friend, the course is finally wide open for you, free of any bunkers so hopefully you will always keep hitting them long and straight.
