Obituary of Valerie Ann Breighner

ZEPHYRHILLS, FL. On 10 July 2023, Valerie Ann Breighner née Oelschlager, 68, died at the Solaris Healthcare Lake Zephyr facility, after struggling for nearly a decade with a rare degenerative neurological condition. 

Born in the Pittsburgh suburb of Mt. Lebanon on Valentine’s Day 1955, Valerie grew up in the nearby town of Carnegie, PA.  A 1973 graduate of Carlynton High School, she trained as a medical technician at the Parkway West Technical School, Oakdale, and later completed two years of a professional nursing curriculum at Carlow University, Pittsburgh.  During working years outside the home, Valerie worked at or managed several doctors’ offices, as well as retail and wholesale pharmacies, most recently at the Frank and Carol Morsani Center, University of South Florida, Tampa.

She is survived by her adoring husband of 46 years, Craig, Wesley Chapel, FL; sons Chris (Saba), Dallas, TX; Ryan, New York, NY; and Michael (Talia), New York, NY; as well as two beautiful grandchildren, Zahra and Daniel.

A long-time resident of Pittsburgh and Upper St. Clair, PA, and Wesley Chapel, FL, Valerie was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Bridgeville, PA, and Atonement Lutheran Church, Wesley Chapel, FL.
