Obituary of Catherine Siena Campopiano

We are sad to announce the passing of Catherine Siena (Macdougald) Campopiano of Land O Lakes, Florida.  She died at the young age of 68, on November 20, 2022.  Known to family and friends as Siena or “Si”, she passed away surrounded by her loved ones after a 29 year battle with cancer.

Siena was born on April. 30, 1954 in Providence, Rhode Island to her late parents, Catherine (Moran) Macdougald and Carlton Macdougald.  She moved to Florida in the summer of 2021 to live out her years with her grandchildren in the Tampa Bay area.  A graduate of Rhode Island College with a Bachelors in Social Work, Siena’s career path was in the hospitality industry for over 50 years.  She was married to the late John Campopiano of Providence, RI and is survived by her two biggest blessings, her daughters, Taryn Sousa of Land O Lakes, Florida and Dana Campopiano of Cranston, Rhode Island.

Sister to the late Carleen Macdougald, she is survived by her sister Martha (Macdougald)  Ranone, her husband Dennis Ranone of Warwick, Rhode Island and their daughter Dailyn Richard of Coventry, Rhode Island.

Siena’s greatest loves were her grandchildren, Michael and Siena Sousa who she absolutely adored along with her son-in-law Michael Sousa, all of Land O Lakes, Florida.

Siena’s embodied a soul of softness, sincerity and strength. Her external radiance and picture perfect smile were equally matched with her internal beauty.  She dedicated years of her life in the service industry and thoroughly enjoyed all of the relationships she built over the years, until retiring in 2020.  She was always there to lend a helping hand to those in need and had a heart of gold.  She found such joy in the little things in life and will be missed dearly by her many friends and family.  Cold iced coffees, sunbathing under the warm sun, or dancing with friends to her favorite songs.  She lived her life to the fullest despite her long battle with cancer, and will forever shine bright in the skies above in eternal peace.

At her request, no funeral service will be held.  The family will have a Celebration of Life in the months to follow in Rhode Island.  Condolences may be sent to Taryn.sousa@gmail.com and Dana.campopiano@gmail.com.
