Obituary of Joan Ferreira

Joan Ferreira, 81, of Wesley Chapel, went to be with her Lord on Monday, July 12, 2021. She was born in the Bronx, New York and graduated from Dodge High School. She moved to Florida in 1992 from Long Island, New York. Joan was a charter member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, enjoyed cooking, baking, “diamond” artwork, crafting, dancing and listening to Latin music. She also used her talent for crocheting to crochet and donate baby caps for the premature babies in hospitals.

Joan is survived by her devoted and loving husband of over 60 years, Steve “Sonny” Ferreira; her beloved children, Steven and his wife Lori Ferreira of Long Island, New York and Lorraine Stursberg of Wesley Chapel; brother, Louis Olivencia Jr., brother and sister-in-law, Reinaldo and Martiza Olivencia and sister, Joyce Castle. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Steven and Emma and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved grandson, Christopher in 2018 and her mom and step-dad, Esther and Louis Olivencia. Joan was a loving and caring lady who took care of her family with great pride and love.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 23 at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church 9724 Cross Creek Blvd., Tampa, Florida 33467 from 10:15am-10:45am followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at 11 o’clock am.
