Frank Sigl

Obituary of Frank Sigl

Frank Sigl passed quietly to his Eternal Home on Friday, 10 July 2020.  In spite of Covid restrictions, his family was there to spend the final moments with him.

Frank loved many things in his life.  He loved to golf, fish, hunt and sell steel and be strong in his faith.  But, none of those hold a candle to the love he had for Karen, his wife of 64 years.  That love was the kind they write books about.

His love of golf led to rounds at St. Andrews, TPC, Hilton Head, and many other great courses.  He shared that love of golf with Karen and it was always a blast to golf with them.  But one had to be ready for a long sit down when Frank was asked about a round and he said, “I remember my drive on the first hole”.  And there is a Hole in One on his scorecard.

With so many years of fishing, there are many great fishing stories.  He does hold the record for the largest Blue Marlin registered at the Bimini Rod and Reel Club for 1972.

Frank loved to hunt and be outdoors. He was an NRA member, attended many Ducks Unlimited banquets and promoted conservation to protect habitat.  There was a yearly trek to Colorado to hunt elk with Howie Layng.

Upon moving to Florida in 1970, Frank began his thirty two year career in the steel industry, first with Florida Steel and later with Associated Metals. Frank loved the steel business and had a passion for being a salesman.  His passion and integrity were not only admired and respected by his customers and co-workers but was also one of the many gifts he passed on to his sons.

As a man of faith which was the bedrock for everything above.  That faith was something that was passed down to the next generation too.  Frank was a steady figure at several churches and gave his business advice during many years of service.  Family of Christ Lutheran Church at Tampa was the last church he attended.  He is well remembered there by the Pastor and members.

Frank is preceded in death by Ferdinand Sigl, father, Catherine Sigl, mother, brother Hubert and sister Caroline Staerkel.

Frank is survived by his wife of 64 years Karen Sigl, sons Kevin (Jane), Dan (Cindy), Alan (Debbie) and his sister Maria Bartz.  There are 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Interment will be held at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL on 18 September, 2020  at 1:00 pm.
