Obituary of Marilyn A Nixon-Inman

Marilyn Ann (Merrill) Nixon-Inman, 75, of Palm Harbor, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, January 21st at home after a several-month battle with dementia.  She was born and raised in Painesville, Ohio, and had lived in Lakewood, Ohio for several years before moving to Florida.

 

She is survived by her children, Scott (Ann) Nixon of Oldsmar, FL, and Kimberly Thompson of Euclid, OH; her brother Robert (Diane) Merrill of Madison, OH; and her niece and nephew Anne Merrill of Chicago, IL and Devin (Jessamine) Merrill of Dallas, TX.  She was preceded in death by her father Bruce Merrill in 1977, her mother Florence Merrill in 2005, her first husband Jerrold Nixon in 2013, and her second husband Robert Inman in 2017.

 

Marilyn graduated from Andrews School in Willoughby, Ohio in 1963.  After raising her children she took courses at Lakeland Community College and began her professional career working in the funeral industry in Cleveland, where she eventually rose to become President of Inman Global, the parent company of Inman Shipping Worldwide.  She retired in 2014.

 

Besides her career accomplishments, Marilyn was an accomplished genealogist, spending several years doing research culminating in the publication of the 2-volume work Merrill, Wallace, Carruthers Family History in 2006.

 

Marilyn was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and before her career was active in the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls as a Mother Advisor and Grand Deputy.

 

A graveside memorial service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Painesville, OH at a later date.
