Obituary of Emily Collazo

COLLAZO, Emily, 98, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2020. She was born and raised in Tampa, Florida, lived in Ybor City, and eventually moved to Town N’ Country in the early 70s. Catholic by faith, Emily is remembered as a selfless, loving, and incredibly kind lady who always put others first. She loved caring for and spending time with family. Anyone who knew her loved her. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, working on word search puzzles, cooking, dominoes, and listening to music, especially Perry Como. She also enjoyed going to the Tampa Bay Rays and Lightning games. Most of all, she is remembered for being a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who lived a very beautiful life. Thank you Mom for being you, we are better for it. Emily is preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Victor J. “Skippy” Collazo. She is survived by her daughters, Julia L. Collazo, Patty L. Rio, Laura M. (Greg) Moore, and Denise A. (Nelson III) Garcia; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; brother, Felipe (Carmen) Nunez; and three nephews. A funeral service will be held on Monday January 13, 2020 at 11:30 am at Loyless Funeral Home Chapel, Land O’Lakes, Florida, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Emily’s final resting place will be with her husband, Victor at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
