Obituary of Genoveva Figueroa

Genoveva Figueroa Moreira 1934-2019

Genoveva 85, or as her family and friends know her “Mama Geno”, passed away on Tuesday, October 1st 2019 surrounded by her family in Wesley Chapel, Florida.

Genoveva was born in Puerto Rico on January 7th, 1934 and moved to New York city when she was a teenager. She met her husband Raymond Quiles and raised three children while working at the US Post Office. She worked at the US Post Office for 20 years and eventually retired and moved back to Puerto Rico to take care of her mother and spend time with her son.

After the passing of her husband in 2002 and her mother in 2007, Genoveva moved to Florida to live with her daughters and grandchildren. She was a devoted grandmother and Rays fan and watched their games religiously. When the Rays weren’t playing, she loved to pass the time watching Family Feud, playing scratch offs and lotto.

Mama Geno was the matriarch of the family. However, she led the family with love, compassion, and humor. To be blunt, the woman had jokes and a smile for everyone that ever met her. She was happy to be at every family party and get together and her love permeated the air and everyone that surrounded her. She will be forever missed, and her memory will be everlasting.

She is survived by her older sister, three children, seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
