Obituary of Jo-Ann Anderson
Anderson, Jo-Ann, 85, of Land O’ Lakes, Florida passed away on May 26, 2019. She was born in Washington, D.C. to Marie and Keith Griffeth. She was a woman of great faith, active in her church, Stephens Ministry, and in the Aldersgate Emmaus Community. She was a dedicated wife and mother who taught her children, grandchildren, and those around her the importance of serving God and loving others.
She completed two years of college. She worked at the U.S. Pentagon during the early years of her marriage. The job most important to her was being a mother. Faith and Family were everything to her. She served as a Girl Scout Leader, church volunteer, PTA member and president, substitute teacher, and was engaged in her community in countless other ways. Later, as her children went off to college, she worked many years for the Florida United Methodist Conference in Lakeland, and then as a church secretary at First United Methodist Church in Land O’ Lakes. For over 20 years, she worked as a pollworker for the Pasco County Supervisor of Elections in a wide variety of roles in primaries, general elections, and by promoting voter registrations through the Motor Voter program. Throughout her life, she loved the beach, including Ocean City Maryland, the Chesapeake Bay, and especially the many years spent at Little Gasparilla Island.
Jo-Ann is preceded in death by her parents, her step-father, Maurice Greenwell, her husband of 51 years, Charles Anderson, and her grandson, Michael Brewer. She is survived by her daughters Cathy Brewer (Bill), Candy Roberts (Lee), four grandchildren (Marc Brewer, Carrie Brewer, Caitlin Hamlin (Tim), and Caroline Roberts, and three great-grandchildren (Emory Brewer, Caleb Hamlin, Carleigh Brewer).
