Obituary of Leroy Thomas Holt

HOLT, Leroy Thomas, 86, of Lutz, Fla. passed away Saturday, December 10, 2011. He was born in Canton, Ohio and moved to Florida from Moore, Oklahoma in 2000. Leroy served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard. He was Chief Petty Officer in the Coast Guard and a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy. He was a York Rite and 33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason, Past Master of Moore Lodge 539, and a member of India Temple Shrine for over 35 years. He served on the U.S.S. California during the Pearl Harbor attack and was on board when the ship was hit. Leroy served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He received many awards including the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Presidential Unit Citation. He is preceded in death by his wife, Audrey; and his sister, Marion. He is survived by his two sons, Leroy Thomas Holt Jr. and Jimmy P. McDaniels; daughter, Sandra Amick; two brothers, Joseph and Jesse; two sisters, Wilma and Linda; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21th at Leverock’s Docks, 4927 US 19, New Port Richey, Fla.
