Obituary of William Sage
SAGE, William David, 90, of Lutz, Fla. passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013. He was born in Key West and moved to Lutz from Tampa in 1969. William was a U. S. Navy Seabees Veteran and served in WWII. He was a retired switchman for the Seaboard Coastline Railroad. William was a founding member of the Sunlake Baptist Church. He graduated from Hillsborough High School, attended business school and real estate school and was a licensed realtor in his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Singing was his favorite hobby and pastime, bringing joy to people through his singing and playing the Kazoo. For many years, he was a faithful servant to the retired senior volunteer program as the County Representative for the Lutz Senior Center. He received awards and accolades for his service to the community and was honored with the local Hero Award twice. William was a man of outstanding character. He is survived by his loving wife of over 70 years, Dorothy; sons, Gerald R. Sage (Joy); two daughters, Sharyn Mixon and Debra A. Johnson (Joey); six grandchildren, Cheryl Morgan, Renee Shepler, Steven Mixon, J. Christopher Mixon, Allison Koplan, Joseph L. Johnson III, sixteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many friends. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the Sunlake Baptist Church. The interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
