Obituary of John Joseph Santarone

SANTARONE, John, “Joe”, Joseph, 75, of Land O’ Lakes, FL passed away Saturday, December 15, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Miami, FL and served in the US Army. He was self-employed as a wholesale distributor with August Brothers Bakery and Murray Biscuit Company. Joe enjoyed vacationing at Disney with his sons, and continued the tradition with his grandchildren. For many years, he organized 4th of July parades and fireworks for Opalocka. He also organized fireworks for other area 4th of July events. He held the title of “Opalocka Man of the Year” and was Carol City JC Member and a JCI Senator. Joe is preceded in death by his son, Anthony Edward in 1995. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Karlene; sons Samuel Ray, John Randall, John Martin and his wife Maria, Ronald Scott; granddaughters, Jenny and Danielle; great son, Jacob; brother, Jim and his wife Ann; sisters, Edna Puthuff and Jean Pavone; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service with military honors will be held at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL on Friday, January 4th, 2013 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gulfside Regional Hospice.
