Obituary of Christopher T. Bennett

BENNETT, Christopher, 52, of Romulus, NY and Zephyrhills, FL, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2012. Chris was born in Waterloo, NY and retired after 30 years as an over-the-road truck driver. He had also worked at the Seneca Army Depot for 15 years and was a member of the Romulus Volunteer Fire Dept. in NY. He was skilled in carpentry, remodeled many homes, and could fix almost anything. He worked for 6 years in Bosnia supporting the NATO peace-keeping force there. He loved his dogs and was known for rescuing all kinds of animals. He helped so many people. Chris loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them and his friends. He is survived by his son, Damon (Andrea) of Syracuse, NY; daughter, Misty of Interlaken, NY; parents, Tom and Winnie of Romulus, NY; brothers, Kenneth “Skip” (Becky) of Romulus, and Patrick (Jennifer) of Phelps, NY; sisters, Merrillee Roberts (Michael) of Rembert, SC, Melanie MacShane (Bob) of Midland, TX, and Pam Coonradt (Craig) of Romulus, NY; new baby grandson, Ari Alexander Bennett; 16 nieces and nephews; his fiancée, Jean Kirk and her children; and many extended family members. A memorial service will be held for Chris at 2pm on Saturday, September 29, 2012, at Loyless Funeral Home in Land O’Lakes, FL. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. His final resting place will be in New York and a memorial service will be held at 4 pm on Saturday, October 27, 2012, at Seneca Community Church on Route 96 in Romulus, NY. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Chris to the Beverly Animal Shelter in Waterloo, NY.
