Obituary of Karel Pokorny
POKORNY, Karel, 87, of Tampa, passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2012, as a result of a long illness. He was born in Trebic, Czech Republic and lived in the USA over 57 years. He and his wife moved to Florida in 1998 and lived in St Petersburg, Holiday and most recently in New Tampa. Karel practiced medicine mostly in Tacoma, WA, at the St. Joseph Hospital of Tacoma, until he retired to Florida. He studied medicine at the famous Charles University of Prague, Czech Republic. Karel liked to go to auctions and collected art and antiques. He also liked to travel visiting many countries of the world. Karel was a noble man, not by his birth right (his father was a shoemaker), but by the value of his spirit. He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Eva; mother-in-law, Jirina of Clearwater; sister, Bohunka of Slovakia and many relatives and friends in Slovakia and Czech Republic. Karel was a member of St Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church where a Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2012. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the mass. Family requests no flowers just thoughts and prayers please.
