Obituary of Stewart Pressler Hess

HESS, Stewart “Stu” Pressler passed away Monday, October 24, 2011. Stu was born on April 25, 1933 in Harrisburg, Pa. A graduate of John Harris High School in Harrisburg, he served with the U. S. Army during the Korean War. After moving to York, PA., he was employed by Sylvania and Lyon Metal Co. In 1984 he and his family relocated to Tampa where he was an employee of Honywell, Inc. from which he retired. Many of his friends will remember Stu’s big band vocal accomplishments; he always had a song in his heart and a dance in his step. A survivor of several carotid artery strokes, Stu elected to donate his remains to the Anatomical Board of the State of Florida for medical research and education. He is preceded in death by his parents, Helen Pressler Hess and Steward Ervin Hess. He is survived by his beloved wife, Suzanne Smith; two sons, Philip and his wife, Linda of Trinity, Fla. and Jeffrey and his wife, Mary Jane of Dunwoody, GA; daughter Jodie Mutchler and her husband Dennis of Tampa; sister, Jacqueline Hess Manthos and her husband Jim Kaehler; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
