Bill was such a good friend, he made such a difference in our lives. We meet Bill and Janet on the Outer Banks the hot summer of 2004. The four of us became the best of friends. What a summer to remember (right Billy Boy). Our world won't be the same without him. But the next world has gained one heck of a soul. We will dearly miss you ole friend. David and Juanita Darnold

Hello Janet, Although I had only met Bill a few times, I knew him to be a gentle and kind man who loved you very much! Having read and enjoyed the memories of him that your children have shared so generously, I now know Bill better. All the beautifully written tributes are a credit to a life well lived! With much love to all of you at this sad time, Eileen P.S. I, too, believe that Ted was there to greet him and show him around.

What to say about Poppy Bill! He is my step father and was in my life when I needed him most. He always seemed to to make everyone feel welcomed. Even when the kids were younger and he had his "Frankenstein surgery" that's what my Tyler thought when he saw him in the hospital. Even when he was sick he made the kids laugh. Sitting and watching him with Courtney playing their favorite game of scrabble, and little Courtney kicking butt. He will be missed by many. I know he has been greeted by many friends, but I know Dave was there with a gin for him and a place at the table for him with Bob and Ted. Man I would love to hear those stories being talked about with that group. Grandma Lavko will take care of you all, and I will miss him very much. With all my love to Bill, I was grateful to call you my dad.

Many days Bill and Addie came over to sit a spell. How he loved to debate politics with Dick. One day they agreed, the next they had different views. But each visit ended with a hearty laugh from both of them. We talked about days gone by and Bill spun many a story with us and listened to our stories. A loving person, a gentle man, a very dear neighbor and friend. We will miss him terribly. God grant you everlasting peace, Bill. May God grant Janet the strength she needs to endure her sorrow.

SALUTE to a NON-Forgotten Korean War VET. We both spent time in that country, my time decades later in keeping that peace he won via his sacrifice in the U.S. NAVY. Thank God I did get time with him recently, and I was fortunate to captain my tiny boat in the same waters he cheerished so much. Captured a very old Conche while ancored off Edmont Key, but set it free as Bill surely would have wanted it. Bill is now free to Captain the Seas once again...Think of Bill and say a prayer whenever your at Sea. I will. Lastly, if ya gatta vote republican vote for Mitt Romney in remembrance of a gentle man who was so special in mine and my Mothers Life, Mr. Bill Barton left me with many calming memories. Love Ya Bill, Free Willy

A snipet to share with you Bill of "Spirtitual Confirmation". Monday Morning Oct. 3, 2011. I was preparing for another workday as I passed the television and quickly stopped to watch this scene. "Two men were standing on a large dock. In the distance full- steam ahead was a large tugboat making a wave off stern. As the boat passed the two men with one long blow from the horn. One man said to the other, 'What a great job to have. To be a tugboat Captain. Every morning leaving with the Sunrise and and coming in each night with the Sunset'. What a job". And Yes Bill I was on time to work this day. May your journey be fulfilled with guidance of the tugboat Angels of Heaven. Bruce Love All

In Love of All Bill, you where greatly loved and appreciated. Helping to add balance in my life as well as the many lives that you came into. A Dream Come True (I heard you before this journey you are now embarking) I was reminisencing to myself just days ago, after our conversation last week. "It was about the time you unselfishly took me aboard the tugboat you Captained in Florida. One of my dreams was to one day be droped off on an island to explore for relics and memories of the past. This island happened to be Egmont Key. It was Sunrise when we departed and a one of those wonderful day you shared with me as the as I walked the shoreline, waves crashed an slowly slipped back into the ocean as a perfect time piece of Universal Force. I found the abandoned Ft. and explored for hours. I spent hours watching the giant island turtles slowly crawling from one sand dune to the next and what seemed to me as visiting with others of thier kind. And yes, taking time to pull a few sand spurs from my feet as well. The clouds in the sky seemed to be in tune with the sound of the ocean made this dream a true reality. As the sun began to drop I saw the tugboat in the distance heading towards the shore. You were right on time. We were back in harbour just before Sunset. May you accept my Blessing on your Journey Now, through the waves of Time, and may this be with you always. Thank you for making many Dreams Come True Bruce A loving 2nd Son Love All
