Obituary of Florence Genevieve Markey

MARKEY, Florence Genevieve “Mickey”, 81, of Tampa, Fla., went to be with our Lord on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Ascentia Nursing Home. She was born July 3, 1930 in Queens, NY to Rudolph and Margaret (McEnerney) Schmidt. On May 6, 1950 she married William J. Markey, Jr. and they celebrated their 61st anniversary this year. Mickey loved to laugh, loved animals and especially loved her large family, which includes six children, twelve grandchildren, one great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her sister, Kathleen and brother-in-law, John Suhr. Mickey is survived by her husband of 61 years, William; six children, Bill and his wife, Gail of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Kathy Boyes of Tampa, Fla., Maureen Dill and her husband, Ron of Tampa, Fla., Kevin and his wife, Patti of Prescott, AZ, Darren and his wife, Renee of Allendale, MI, Brian and his wife, Cyndi of Park Forest, IL; grandchildren, Ryan, Matthew, Victoria, Vanessa, Crystal, Daniel, Jessica, Amber, Joseph, Amanda, Eric, Sarah; great granddaughter, Alexia; brother, Robert Schmidt and his wife, Cheryl of Glenburn, ME. A memorial mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church.
