God saw you getting tired, When a cure was not to be. So He wrapped his arms around you, and whispered, “Come to me”. You didn’t deserve what you went through, So He gave you rest. God’s garden must be beautiful, He only takes the best And when I saw you sleeping, So peaceful and free from pain I could not wish you back To suffer that again. (by Author Unknown)

Claribel, we just learned from Kelly that Carlos had passed away. We were so saddened to hear the news. Having coached Kelly in softball throughout the years, and with Bob having coached with Carlos, we got to see what a truly wonderful man he was. We are pleased that we had the opportunity to have known him. Sometimes, there are no answers to the question, why? Why did God take him so soon? Being of faith, we know that God has his own plan. We also know that Carlos is in a wonderful place, free of pain, rejoicing with those he loved who preceded him in death. We understand that it is harder for those left behind. Please know that you and your kids will be in our thoughts and prayers throughout this difficult time. May your faith bring you comfort. Bob and Debbie Davis

Claribel, Jessica, Chelsea, Chris, Yami and Lily I had the pleasure of calling your husband/father/brother my friend. Although busy raising our families throughout the years, my fond feelings and memories for Carlos or "TJ" as we affectionately called him, will be with me for a lifetime. He lived across the street, we went to middle and high school together and we shared experiences that make a childhood such a special time in everyone's life. Although I'm deeply saddened by his passing, I couldn't be prouder of the type of husband and father he became. Like me, I'm sure he was beaming with pride for his children and amazed at how you go from long hair, platform shoes and satin shirts to the awesome role of father. I pray that you can find some comfort in knowing that your father was loved by many long before you were a glimmer in his eye. Claribel, I pray that you can find inner peace in understanding that for some unknown reason to us now, Carlos had fulfilled God's plans for him. And Yami and Lily, I think about the joy on your mom and dad's face to receive Carlos in heaven. Al, Lisette, Michael, Alyssa and Alexis, Gladys and "Sarge"

Our heart is broken that the Lord has taken this friend. We were fortunate to have Carlos as a Tampa Mustangs coach. His contributions to our organization were many. What a positive influence and impact on his players. He met many opponents on the ball field (he led the 16U Mustangs to 2003 ISA World Champions) it's a heart breaker that this opponent won the battle.

Claribel, Jessica, Chelsea, Chris, We are so sorry for your loss, your dad Carlos was an amazing man he was the kind of man people wanted to be and the kind of man people would be proud to be. I remember while we were growing up during our teen age years he saved our next door neighbors little boy from bleeding to death. He had just gotten mauled by the family German Shepard and Carlito’s quick action stopped the bleeding and stabilized the boy until rescued arrived. We will miss him, our love and prayers go out to you and your family. Tia Fefita, Yvonne, Mabel & Family

Claribel, Chris, Jessica and Chelsea, our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Carlos was such a wonderful person. His courage, will and kindness will always remain in the hearts of hundreds of friends, kids and families. Carlos had the opportunity to make a difference in so many lives and he did it to the fullest. His genorosity and legacy alone with Land O' Lakes Little League will continue with generations to come. He was a role-model, manager, teacher and genuine all around good person to hundreds of kids in our league. He made a difference in so many lives. He was a menotor and good friend to me. I learned about dedication, hard-work, competitveness and fun on and off the field from him. Values that I still instill and reinforce in the kids that I continue to coach. But most of all, he was a wonderful father and husband. Claribel, Chris, Jessica and Chelsea, words can't describe your loss nor others. Just know that he is peace now watching over us all. We love you all.....Tom, Christine, Ryan, Lane, Haydon and Wyatt

Claribel, Jessica, Chelsea, Chris, We are so very sorry for your loss and ask that God bless and watch over you and the family. There are no words that we can say that will make the pain hurt any less or go away. Carlos put up such a valiant battle against such a tough opponent and it's very hard to understand God's plans of how and why. Now, the courage and strength that your wonderful husband and father showed in his battle and in his duty to his family is now rewarded by God's peace, love and healing hands. We were blessed to have known Carlos and enjoyed his friendship and all the knowledge of the game of softball he so willingly shared with us. Our love, thoughts, and prayers continue to be with you, Claribel, Jessica, Chelsea and Chris and all entire Tejas family. Kay, Steve, Courtney & Meghan Durbin

I just heard from a mutual friend that Carlos passed. I had the privilege to serve with him in the Air Force at Langley AFB, VA. He was great to work with; I remember once we were visiting the 7th Comm Group in the Pentagon, and wanted to see how they solved an engineering problem similar to the one we were working on. It was a secure area and we hadn't coordinated our visit in advance. After talking with the guard a long time, he finally said--out of the blue-- "hey, it's not like you are Cubans or anything!". Carlos and I chuckled over that one several times over the years. I bumped into him in a meeting at Scott AFB a couple years ago--and am shocked to find out he passed so young. My condolences to his family and other friends. A great man.
