Kristy & Terri posted a condolence
Wednesday, August 22, 2012
She was born Sue Ann Zink on April 14, 1936 and spent her childhood in Speedway Indiana. Her parents owned the only grocery in town - Zink’s Market - and Sue grew up working in the store along with her 2 sisters Jane and Kay. Sue attended Stephens College in Missouri, then returned to Speedway to plan her wedding to her sweetheart Phil Murray. Sue and Phil were baptized at the Speedway Christian Church and married June 24, 1956. They then moved to Virginia where they soon started their own family when daughters Kristy and Terri were born. Sue and Phil moved back to Indiana in 1961 where the young family enjoyed camping and boating together. Sue became immersed in her family, staying home to raise the girls and spent time volunteering for the March of Dimes and at the polls. In 1970, Sue and Phil moved the family to Fremont where they bought a house on Snow Lake so they could enjoy the boating life full-time. Sue continued to stay home with her girls where they remember her always being home when they arrived from school and she would drop everything to sit and listen to their stories of their day. As the girls got older, Sue ventured out into the working world back home in Speedway where she became a modern independent and confident woman working for an insurance company. Once the girls finished college, Sue and Phil moved to Nashville Tennessee and returned to their love of boating when they bought the Kris-Ter - the sailboat they kept at Percy Priest Lake and spent most weekends from Friday night after work to Sunday afternon. The grandchildren began to arrive as Kara was born in 1983 and Sue realized how much more love she had to give. In 1986 Lauren arrived and Sue and Phil decided to move to Florida to semi-retire and try boating on the Gulf of Mexico. Sue continued to work this time in the title industry - true to her hardworking personality, she never did semi-retire as her intelligence and work ethic made her very much in demand. She was blessed with 4 more grandchildren over the years - Mandy, Alex, Aaron, and Andrew and Sue was truly in her element when surrounded by each and every one of them. In 1998, Sue decided to retire from her job so that she could help Terri and her husband Terry raise their children. She enjoyed a unique and very close relationship with each grandchild. Sue was thrilled in 2006 when she became a great-grandma to Rylan. Sue had recently lost her sister Jane and though she was suffering the loss, as God would have it, she was able to reconnect with her younger sister Kay and her children Steven and Susan. She was able to spend many hours at the home of her childhood continually finding treasures from the past that Jane had left behind and relating the stories of the Zink family to her own family. No matter how you knew her - as Sue, Grandma, Bamaw - she always had time for you and was truly interested in you and your life. She made an impression on everyone she met and we are all better people for having her in our lives. She was taken all too soon and her family will miss her every day. She was so looking forward to the birth of her first great-granddaughter Grace LeAnn in Sept and will surely be there with us as we celebrate the circle of life.

Mom, I thought you would live forever. My hope in life has been to be just like you, and I am still working on that...There could be no better Mom in the world for me, and you have shaped my life in many ways. Even though we lived physically far apart, we were close in spirit. I will miss our weekly conversations when we would "solve all the problems of the world". There was no event in my life , good or bad, where my first thought wasn't "I've got to call Mom". It gives me peace to know you are with God in heaven. Till we meet again....

Mommy, I love you so much and will never stop missing you. You are the most caring, loving, person I have been lucky enough to ever know. You are one of God's truly good people and I know He must need you more than I do now. I count myself as so very honored to have had you in my life. Our kids will miss you greatly, but I am so happy that you had such a large part in their lives and your love and support have and will continue to make them into the best of people and you should be proud. Please watch over us all - we do still need you!
