Obituary of Nydia Navea Cabalu Maurer

MAURER, Nydia Navea Cabalu, 67, of Tampa, Fla., passed away Monday, April 4, 2011. She was born in Cavite City, Philippines to Enrique Navea and Nieves Nazareno. She moved to the United States in 1972. Nydia earned her degree from University of the East and taught high school English. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Tampa. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Herman T. Cabalu and two brothers, Ben and Enrique, Jr. She is survived by two sons, George and his wife, Sarah and Sonny and his wife, Bonnie; two brothers, Engel Navea and his wife, Lourdes and Jake Navea and his wife, Vivian; two sisters, Corazon Navea Cano and her husband, Sonny and Charito Navea Samsi and her husband, Sonny; seven grandchildren, Alissa, Andrew, Benjamin and Clara Cabalu and Bret, Brandi and Brendan Wheaton. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 1:45 p.m. on Friday at St. Paul Catholic Church in Tampa. Her final resting place will be in the Philippines.
