Obituary of Dean Gregory Hotaling

HOTALING, Dean Gregory, 78, of Lutz, Florida passed away Thursday, December 27, 2012. He was born in New York and moved to Lutz, Florida from Latham, New York. Dean was a United States Navy Veteran serving from 1955 to 1960 and was an ET3,also he was on the USS Furse for three years. He was very active in the USS Furse DD/DDR-882 reunions serving as Secretary, Treasurer, and Vice President. Dean served in the Korean Conflict and was a graduate of New York University. He was an agent with Allstate Insurance retiring after 35 years. Dean was a Mason for 45 years, Past Master of Wadsworth Lodge #417, Van Rensseiaer Lodge and was Past Grand Sword Bearer for the Albany Mason District. Dean loved to fly his plane, water ski, canoe and enjoyed being in the Adirondack Mountains at his camp Onesquethaw. He was a member of Quiet Birdmen and was an enthusiastic member of Lake Como Family Nudist Resort. He is survived by his wife of 15 years Betty Anne; daughter, Doreen Hotaling of Latham, NY; stepson, John McClain of Boca Raton, FL; stepdaughter, Melissa McClain of Atlanta, GA; sister, Mary Lou Natoli of Osewego, NY; four grandsons, Alex Ward, Sean McClain, Cade McClain and Sage Hass; six nephews and two nieces. Private services will be held.
