Obituary of William E. Curran

CURRAN, William E., 77, of Land O' Lakes, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2010. He was born in Jackson Heights, NY and moved to Florida in 2004 from Deer Park, NY. He had worked as a driver and a union representative for Boening Brothers. He retired from both the NY Racing Association, as a peace officer, and Uniondale High School, as a security officer. He was an avid lover of sports especially basketball and baseball. In his younger years he was a man who loved to be outside taking care of his lawn. He never seemed to have enough fertilizer or water and the grass always stayed green and he made sure of it. When he was younger he was a great athlete in basketball and baseball. He tried out with the Brooklyn Dodgers baseball team at Ebbets Field but hurt his pitching arm. He was also know for his patent leather shoes as they always looked new and shiny. His wife, Barbara Ann preceded him in death. He is survived by two sons, William P. with wife Lynn of Commack, NY, and Brian with wife Kellie of Land O' Lakes; two daughters, Barbara Ann Curran of Margate and Robyn Hill of Land O' Lakes; grandchildren, Michael, Billy, Ryan, Gianna, Ethan, Samantha, Chris, and Corey......Services will be held in Deer Park, New York and burial will be at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY.
