Obituary of Ruth Spencer Smith

SMITH, Ruth Spencer, 95, entered into rest peacefully at home surrounded by family on June 20, 2010. She was preceded in death, by her parents, Stacey and Mildred Emberger Spencer; siblings, Ellsworth, Robert, Warren Spencer and Patricia Van Zandt. Beloved widow of Harold R. Smith, she is survived by her loving children, Craig S. Smith (Jean) of Lutz, their child Suzanne (Eric) Wollborg of Detroit, MI and Phyllis J. Smith of Land O Lakes and her sisters, Betty Campbell and Joan Hart of Wellsboro, PA as well as many nieces and nephews. Born in Wellsboro, Mrs. Smith moved to Tampa in 1964. She was an avid tennis player well into her 80's and retired from Maas Brothers in 1981. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mrs. Smith's memory to Hyde Park United Methodist Church, 500 W. Platt St., Tampa, 33606 where Mrs. Smith was a devoted member and volunteer. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. June 28 at Hyde Park United Methodist Church. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. July 3 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 29 Charles St., Wellsboro, PA. Interment will be at Coopers Plains Cemetery, NY.
