Obituary of John Calvin Bickel

BICKEL, John Calvin, “Big John”, 78, of Lutz, FL peacefully went from his home to the Field of Dreams on Sunday, July 26, 2009 with his family present. He was an avid baseball and softball player. He retired from Standard Foods in Louisville, KY where he was born and attended Western Kentucky State College. He was a member of Lutz First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor of 59 years; two daughters, Marty Pope of New Mexico and Dawn Drake of Lutz; three grandsons, Justin and Sean Drake and Mikey Sander all of Lutz and three brothers, Theodore (Florence), Gerald (Rose) and Harold (Lynn) of Louisville, KY and several nieces and nephews, Sarah Muckler, Mike Humphrey, Teddy, Sheila, Gerald, Todd and Mike Bickel. All ball players please wear your ball uniforms. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Life Path Hospice Blue Team. A celebration of his life will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 30 at Loyless Funeral Home.
