Obituary of Brena Farrales Carpio Pangalangan

PANGALANGAN, MD., Brena Farrales Carpio, passed away March 25, 2009 in Tampa, FL. Dr. Brena Farrales was born July 12, 1920 in the Philippines. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Cecilio Farrales and Maria Madarang; sister, Dr. Dolores Espino and brother Robusto Farrales. She is survived by her husband Dr. Arturo Pangalangan and her six children, Rhoby, Jojo, Eddie, Brena, Eric, and Dennis Carpio; daughters-in-law, Cora, Leila, Theresa and Veronique; grandchildren, Nina, Rob, Jennifer, Enrico, Michaela, Marissa, Stephanie and Brandon; and great grandchildren, Christian and Jayden; and siblings, Dr. Augusto Farrales and sister, Paz Estacio. Brena was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a dedicated physician for over 50 years. She was the university physician and a Medical Professor at Far Eastern University in the Philippines. She immigrated to the United States, after completing her Post Graduate studies, and lived in New York City for her residency. She then moved to Fort Wayne, IN and worked as a Physician at Byron Health Center and then moved to Garrett, IN and started a private practice as a Family Physician; and finally, as a Physician at the VA Hospital in Marion, IN. Brena lived her life to the fullest. When she was not with a patient, you would find her with relatives and friends.
