Obituary of Kenneth R. Burdette

BURDETTE, Kenneth R., 91, of Charleston, WV passed away on December 26, 2008, in Land O’ Lakes, FL. He was a lifelong resident of Charleston, a graduate of Charleston High School, and a WWII Veteran. At the time of his death, he was the oldest retired surviving Charleston fire fighter and ended his 30 year career as Assistant Fire Chief. He was an employee of the West Virginia Department of Health & Human Resources for 28 years. He also worked with his brother who owned Ashmore Optical Co. for over 68 years. Most importantly, he was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents Braden & Grace Burdette, his wife of 69 years, Anna A. Burdette, and his brother, Paul A. Burdette. He is survived by son, Paul T. Burdette and his wife, Anne of Richmond, TX; daughters Bridget M. Blevins of Ormond Beach, FL and Roseanne D. McDonnell of Land O’ Lakes, FL; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Monday, December 29, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 pm and funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 2:00 pm., both at Loyless Funeral Home in Land O’ Lakes, FL. A graveside fireman’s tribute will be held on Friday, January 2, 2009 at 10 am at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens in Cross Lanes, WV. All are welcome.
