Obituary of Donald R Luth

Donald R. Luth, 67, of Land-O-Lakes, FL died November 24, 2008. Born on July 23, 1941, in St. Louis, MO, Don grew up in St. Louis with lots of visits to Salem, MO to visit his extended family. Don used wonderful dry wit to keep everyone, particularly his family, in good humor. Don and Judy married on March 28, 1964 in Branson, MO and spent the next 44 years devoted to each other. Devotion to his loveable and loving wife, Judy, fulfilled him and enriched his life. As long as they were together sitting at the 13th hole watching the golfers from their screened porch or seeing the children and grandchildren, life was full and good. Poppy Don was passionate about his family and “Poppy always loves you and Poppy is always right”. Don never forgot his anniversary with Judy. Don was so proud of his two outstanding sons who developed into the loving men of good character that he and Judy expected. Don was always ready with a warm embrace for all his family and a great comfort to all. Don was passionate about his country and his politics and loved to engage in long discussions. He loved to watch football and could talk forever about his Tampa Bay Bucs. He could never figure out how they could lose a game. His tastes in food stopped at cashews and a baloney sandwich with lots of mayo. He loved the holidays with the extended family. Don graduated from the University of Missouri at Rolla in Civil Engineering. At the University, Don was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity where he made lifelong enduring friendships. Don worked for the city of Los Angeles after graduating doing road planning. He then took a position in the Hockaden Architectural firm in Columbus, Ohio. Don next founded his own firm, DeLuth Construction Company in Columbus which he ran until moving to Florida. Don loved to golf, especially with his sons. He would challenge them with his humor and banter as they played together. Living on the golf course he and Judy would take long walks in the evening and gather the lost golf balls. They quit counting after they found 1000 golf balls. Visits from their friends, Sherry and Ian, gave Don more excuses to play his favorite sport. Don is survived by his wife, Judy Luth; mother, Delma Kubatsky, son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Michelle Luth and daughter-in-law, Chad and April Luth; grandchildren, Jenna, Anna Jordon, Taylor, and Riley Luth. He is also survived by cousin-brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Carol Weaver of Knoxville, TN, and their sons, Sam Weaver and wife, Margaret and Dan Weaver and wife, Jennifer and their sons, Benjamin, Dylan, and Sammy all of Boulder, CO.
