Obituary of Tommy A. Fuente

FUENTE, Tommy A., 61, of Tampa passed away Saturday March 22, 2008 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Tampa and served in the Navy for 20 years. He was a Chief Cryptologist Technician and a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War. Chief Fuente was a uniquelytalented and gifted member of an elite highly classified corps of code breakers. Following his retirement, he served with the DEA and was chief of the Tactical Support Group at JIATF South, Key West. Our nation has lost a hero and icon whose passion for his professional and innumerable achievements saved countless American lives. He was an avid golfer and fisherman, known as “The Legend”. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Antonia “Toni”; daughters, Chantel and husband, Neil, Carla and husband, Michael; sister, Yvonne and husband,Richard; brother-in-law, Joe and wife Cheryl; and granddaughter, Gabrielle. Special thanks to Dr. Lewis Roberts of the Mayo Clinic and Dr. Christopher George of Bay Area Oncology. Donations to the Mayo Clinic may be made in the memory of Tommy A. Fuente. A Memorial Service will be held at Loyless Funeral Home on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
