Obituary of Larry Dennis Ackerly

ACKERLY, Larry, born July 28, 1946, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 18, 2007. Larry was an E5 Petty Officer, Second Class in the US Navy during the Viet Nam era and served aboard the USS Forrestal and several other ground and sea stations. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1973. He was a deacon at the First Baptist Church in Lutz and during the last six years of his life served the Lord by volunteering at the Pregnancy Care Center in Tampa, the Dept. of Juvenile Justice Brandon Facility, and volunteered as a member of the Patient and Family Advisory Program of H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center. Larry could often be seen at Moffitt Cancer Center reading his Bible, and he never missed an opportunity to talk with others about Jesus. Larry leaves behind his wife of 23 years, Lynn; son, Troy Jason Ackerly & wife Tamara; daughter, Jennifer Howell & husband Richard; stepdaughters, Susan Williams, Cheri Colon & husband Albert; parents, June & Ralph Ackerly; sister, Lynn Moore; brother, William Ackerly & wife Donna; and 3 grandchildren. Services will be held at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL on Tuesday, June 26th at 10:30AM.
