Obituary of Phyllis Karn

KARN, Phyllis M., born July 13, 1930 in Binghamton, NY; died September 18, 2010 in Tampa, FL at the age of 80. The oldest child of Donald W. & Helen Karn, she is survived by her sister, Joyce Gennarelli of Tampa, FL and her brother, Donald C. Karn of Binghamton, NY, nephews Joseph P Gennarelli,III of Wesley Chapel, FL, Stephen Gennarelli of Tampa, FL, William R Karn of Binghamton, NY and a niece, Rosellen Karn of Port Crane, NY. Phyllis graduated from Binghamton Central High School in 1948 and began a long career in banking with The Industrial Bank of Binghamton in 1950 until her retirement from Key Bank in 1990. She earned a Liberal Arts degree from Harpur College in 1957. She was listed on the prestigious Who's Who of American Women in 1968. She was one of the few women executives in her industry, rising to the level of Vice President in 1971. She was very active in the church, serving for many years as a Eucharistic Minister & lector at St Mary of The Assumption Parish in Binghamton. She enjoyed spending time with her family, swimming, gardening & following her favorite baseball team, the New York Yankees. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul's Church in Tampa on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 10:30AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
