Obituary of Josephine Miranda Barry

Josephine Miranda Barry, 79, beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2024, at the Melech Hospice House in Temple Terrace, FL. She was born on November 19, 1944, in Tampa, FL, to Jose and Carmelina Miranda. Josephine is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Roy Blake Barry; her children, Debra (Barry) Davis, Vaughnette (Kevin) Chandler, Stephanie (William) Bunford and Roy William “Bud” Barry; grandchildren, Blake Chandler, Phillip Davis, Tyler Barry, Katelyn Barry and Miranda Bunford; brothers, Joe (Sue) Miranda, George (Lynda) Miranda, and many cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Carmelina Miranda; siblings Mary “Theresa” Alvarez, and Jacobo “Jackie” Miranda.

Josephine dedicated 25 years of her life to Pasco County Schools, where she retired as a Human Resources Specialist. Her commitment and hard work left an indelible mark on the organization, and her legacy will be remembered by colleagues and friends alike.

Josephine’s childhood in Ybor City was filled with the warmth of a tight-knit family that valued food, togetherness, and joy. She had a deep love for music and dancing, often sharing these passions with her beloved cousins.

Her personality was marked by dedication and loyalty to family and friends, coupled with a calm and fun-loving spirit. Josephine's favorite memories were those spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren, cherishing the moments that brought joy and laughter into their lives.

Among her proudest accomplishments were raising her children and building a successful career. Josephine's legacy extends beyond her professional achievements, touching the hearts of those she cared for and inspired.

In her leisure time, Josephine enjoyed various hobbies, including sewing, crafts, dancing, puzzles, reading and riding on the back of their Harley. These activities were a testament to her creative, nurturing, fun-loving spirit, leaving a lasting impact on those around her.

Josephine Miranda Barry will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace, her memory forever cherished in the hearts of those who loved her.

Services will be held at Loyless Funeral Home, 5310 Land O’ Lakes Blvd, Land O’ Lakes, FL 34639, on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 1 pm. Friends and family are invited to gather at The Groves Golf and Country Club, 7660 Melogold Circle, Land O’ Lakes, FL 34637 at 3:30pm for a Celebration of Life.

A final farewell for close family will take place at the Bushnell National Cemetery on Monday, March 18, 2024, at 2pm at 6502 S.W. 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL 33513.
