Obituary of Elvea Lia Kelly

Elvea Lia Kelly, 81, of Tampa, Florida passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2023. Born in Montenero Val Cocchiaro, Italy in 1941, she immigrated to the United States at seven years of age. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carmine and Clara Scalzitti.  Elvea is survived by her husband of 58 years,Thomas Kelly, her three children, Marsha Kelly, David (Kim) Kelly and Janet (Michael) Shutt, her three grandchildren Megan Shutt, Kyle Kelly and Samuel Shutt,  and sister Caroline (Joseph) Fanchi.

Elvea had a rewarding career, including serving as the Admissions Director at Whitehall North, an assisted living facility in Deerfield, Illinois and Registrar at William Fremd High School in Palatine, Illinois. 

In her retirement, Elvea loved to play tennis, spend time with friends and cook.  Italian food, as you might expect, was her specialty. Her family was her most prized possession and she always put their needs before her own. She was a strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity. She was an inspiration to us all and she will be deeply missed by everyone whose life she touched.

The family will receive friends Monday from 2-4pm at Loyless Funeral Home, 5310 Land O Lakes Blvd, Land O Lakes. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday at 10:30am at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 9724 Cross Creek Blvd, Tampa. She will be interred following the funeral mass at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 5233 118th Ave N., Clearwater.
