Obituary of Leo Avila

Leo Avila, 82 born on Valentines Day in 1941, of Tampa passed away April 17, 2023, at his home in the care of his family and Hospice. Raised in Miami, Florida; he graduated from Miami Jackson Senior High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was sent to Ramey Air Force Base in Aguadilla, PR; where he met and married his loving wife. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reinaldo (Ray) and Raquel Avila; and his brother George Avila. Leo is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Gladys Avila; daughter Wanda Periou, granddaughters Kristina Miller and Rachel Rodriguez, sister Neyda Llerena, and many nieces and nephews who fondly loved him like a second dad. Leo was a very loving husband, wonderful father, grandfather, brother, and friend to everyone he met. He loved animals and was always laughing and telling jokes. He was proud to be a service man and had a long career in the beer industry mostly with Pepin Distributing Company. His hobbies included baseball, football, traveling, camping, fishing, golf, and good scotch. Leo’s family with have a gathering on Friday, May 5th starting at 10 am at Loyless Funeral Home, 5310 Land O’ Lakes Blvd., Land O’ Lakes, FL 34639. Memorial service will begin at 11 am and a committal service at Florida National Cemetery will be held at 1:30 pm.
