GOD BLESS MY BEAUTIFUL WIFE OF 41 YEARS

Hazel Claire (Ford) Morsell

Hazel Claire (Ford) Morsell, age 74, sadly passed away after a short illness on March 31, 2023 in Land O Lakes, Florida. She was surrounded by her loved ones, including husband Jack Morsell and many close friends. She is survived by her Husband Jack of 41 years. She is also survived by her Stepson Jeffrey Morsell and Spouse Pamela, Granddaughter Ava, and Stepson David Morsell, Spouse Jeanine. She is also survived by her loving Sisters Joyce Ford Carter and Linda Ford and many Nieces, Nephews, Grand Nieces, and Grand Nephews.

She was predeceased by Father Clarence Ford, Mother Hazel G. (Burt) Ford and two Sisters, Beverly Ford, and Carol Headdy.

Hazel was born in Denville, New Jersey. She graduated high school from Parsippany Hills High School. She began her work career after attending cosmetology school and soon elevated to a Hair Dress Manager in Boonton, New Jersey. Additional career accomplishments include working 21 consecutive years at Industrial Filters Co in Fairfield, NJ, as their Office Accounting and Computer Manager.

In her younger days Hazel was very athletic, a skilled dancer on roller skates, a softball pitcher, and a 10-year-old Saloon Dancer at Wild West City Amusement Park, in Netcong, NJ.

Hazel lived a wonderful happy life as she watches and continues to care for her loved ones from heaven. Hazel was a sweet, kind, tough, grateful caring woman. She was a lover from day one of her well- earned retirement life, living in her custom designed Land O Lakes, Florida home. Hazel became the quintessential Floridian enjoying the warm weather and pool life, and twenty years without New Jersey snow! Hazel was a passionate pet lover and came to Florida with her three Maltese dogs—as they always kept her very busy before leaving for doggie heaven.

Anyone that met Hazel knew that she was a very generous person with her time, compassion, and dedication to others. She understood the importance of empathy. Hazel loved hosting her annual Christmas party and her pool season picnics for family, friends, and neighbors. She loved entertaining guests and sitting pool side watching the beautiful Florida  sunsets. Hazel will be lovingly and deeply missed by everyone who knew her.

In her retirement years, Hazel became a self-trained artistic Interior Design/Decorator, who did many houses in the new Suncoast Lakes Development. She specialized in window treatments. She also was an avid reader and had many favorite authors especially John Sanford and Sanibel’s own Randy Wayne White.. Her favorite vacation spot in Florida was the Sanibel Captiva Island Paradise. She also loved her great memorable trip to Hawaii, with the best of friends.

Hazel was considered an aficionado regarding her Ancestry hobby. She compiled many family books documenting her research findings. Impressive high level of knowledge regarding the Morsell and Ford surnames.

Before moving to Florida, Hazel enjoyed being a Eucharistic Minister for St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Rockaway, NJ. She also enjoyed many Saturday mornings for bible study sessions.

She was a reluctant supporter of her family's obsession with spectator sports, but being a trooper, she did attend football games in the snow at West Point and rode on the Bronx subway to Yankee Stadium.

Her Celebration of Life will be held at the Loyless Funeral Home, 5310 Land O Lakes Boulevard in Land O Lakes, FL at 11am on Saturday, May 20, 2023. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to your favorite charity in Hazel's name.
