Obituary of Cyril DiLeo

Cyril Peter DiLeo, 82, of Tampa, Florida passed away on February 7, 2023. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather.

"Cy" was born in Welland, Ontario, Canada, on June 29, 1940, to Ignatius & Angelina (Bertoni) DiLeo.

After finishing high school, Cy enlisted in the US Marine Corps, and was stationed in various U.S. locations, including North Carolina, Alaska, and California. He was stationed abroad in Japan and the Philippines.

After serving six years, he returned to Welland, where he met and married Janet Sweetman. They moved to Rochester, NY, and had three boys Todd, Dean, and Daniel.

Not long after his sons were born, they returned to Canada, where Cy worked as an engineering technician at Provincial Crane, GM, and MBB Helicopter.

In 1995, Cy retired and moved to Tampa, Florida. During his retirement, "Pops" spent his time making memories with his family, fishing with his boys, woodworking, and was very active in his Church, St. Mark's The Evangelist in Tampa, Fl.

His is preceded in death by his parents, Ignatius & Angelina (Bertoni) DiLeo. He is survived by his beloved wife, Janet (Sweetman) DiLeo and his sons: Todd (Cathy) DiLeo, Dean (Carol) DiLeo and Daniel (Maryann) DiLeo. His brother, Joseph (Julie) DiLeo. And his beautiful grandchildren: Tyana Murray, Ava Rezler, Joshua DiLeo, Kayla DiLeo and Olivia DiLeo.

Cy was known for his kindness, patience, dedication to his family, generous spirit, and faithfulness to The Lord.

After battling complications from Crohn's for decades, he passed peacefully with his family by his side.

Cyril was a son, a brother, a Marine, a husband, a father, a grandfather, a Grand Knight, and a faithful servant of The Lord.

We will miss Pops.

Instead of giving flowers, the family asks those who can donate to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation.
