Obituary of Joan Marie Dunn Conn

Joan Marie Dunn Conn, 89, a resident of New Tampa, FL, left us on December 6^th, 2022, surrounded by loving family.   Life of the party, fun loving, jokester, mischievous, always smiling, creative and a gal who could light up the room are just some of the ways her family and friends fondly remember her.   Without question, she was one very unique lady who deeply loved her friends and family and was always trying to put a smile on someone’s face.

Joan was born in Newburgh, NY in 1933 where she graduated Mount St. Mary Academy. She married Jack A. Dunn in 1956 upon his graduation from West Point.   She was an “Army Wife” for 23 years living across the US as well as Germany and Japan.  Jack died in 1996 and she was remarried to Charles “Charlie” T. Conn in 2001.  They resided in Southside, AL together until Charlie’s death in 2010.  She moved to Tampa in 2013 to be closer to family and resided at The Legacy at Highwoods Preserve assisted living facility until her passing.

Her surviving family include daughter Judy Dunn, sons Joe Dunn and Jerry Dunn, granddaughter Mary Dunn, grandsons Joshua Dunn, Mathew Dunn, Zachary Dunn and Trenton Dunn, sister Sue Gillen and daughters-in law Laura Dunn and Robbie Dunn aka “Mommy” due to her caregiving in Joan’s later years. 

A mass and service in honor of Joan’s life will be held at St. Mark The Evangelist Catholic Church at 11 AM, December 20^th, 2022. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
